According to KANTAR, which has just published the Africascope 2018 results for Benin, television is watched by 93% of the population surveyed for an average of only 2 hours and 39 minutes, which is quite far from the standards of other countries studied as part of Africascope.
In television, the top-rated channels in terms of audience share are the pan-African channel Novelas TV, which reaches 16.4%, followed by ORTB, the Beninese public channel (9.4%), and all CANAL +Sport channels, in third place with 8.4% audience share.
In terms of cumulative audience over the last seven days, three Beninese channels are watched by the most people: ORTB reaches a cumulative audience share of 66.9%, the private Beninese channel CANAL3 achieves 60.5%, and the news channel GolfeTV comes in third place with 57.2%.
Among executives and managers, France 24 tops all awareness and audience indicators. 70% of them watch the channel every week and more than one in two watch it every day, making France 24 the second most watched channel by this target audience, all channels combined.
It should be noted that Benin is currently transitioning to digital terrestrial television. As Mr. Quenum, Chairman of the DTT Transition Steering Committee, recently indicated, the following channels will be broadcast:
ORTB, B24, ADO TV, Canal 2, Golfe TV, TVC, Canal 3, IMANLE TV, EDEN TV, AGRI TV, E-Télé, TV5 MONDE, TIVI5, STYLE, France 24
