All summer long, RFI is offering an exclusive radio adaptation of the soap opera "C'est la vie!"
This series recounts daily life at a health center that strives to provide the best possible care to the residents of Ratanga, a fictional neighborhood in an African city, where life oscillates between joy, misfortune, work, and family life. Through its plot and colorful characters, this radio soap opera entertainingly addresses issues of sexuality, motherhood, violence, and women's right to emancipation. The series offers a frank and human look at a complex, surprising, and endearing Africa, where different individuals meet, love, hate, and try to understand each other.
"C'est la vie!" is the radio adaptation of the first two seasons of the eponymous television series broadcast on pan-African channels such as TV5Monde and A+. Supported by the production company Keewu, the NGO RAES (Senegal) and the AFD, the series "C'est la vie!" benefits from a transmedia platform for its broadcast.
In an interview with Adweknow, Alexandre Rideau, Director of the production company Keewu, said: "This series goes beyond the traditional framework of broadcasting on pan-African channels such as TV5Monde and A+. Today, the series is broadcast by both public and private channels in around ten African countries. It is also available on the internet and in the field as part of awareness campaigns, as well as on the radio. The impact of the series is not quantifiable but remains significant. We estimate that tens of millions of viewers have been exposed to this series.
" The radio version is also being adapted into African languages: Fulani, Mandinka (Bambara), Hausa, and Wolof.
