KANTAR has just published the Africascope 2018 results for Benin for television, radio, and the Internet. While television is watched by fewer people on average than in the other African countries studied, Benin is the country where radio and the Internet achieve the best results.
Radio has the highest cumulative audience share at 86% and the longest listening time (2 hours 31 minutes) of all countries surveyed.
With more than 50% of the population surveyed saying they are Internet users, 37.5% going online at least once a month, and a smartphone ownership rate of 41.2%, Benin is one of the most digitized countries, along with Senegal and Gabon.
44.1% of internet users have a Facebook account and 40.5% are on WhatsApp. Far behind these two leaders, Instagram ranks third with 8.7%. Here too, the rates observed are among the highest compared to the other countries studied.
The top three in terms of audience share are the private generalist station CAPP FM (21.9%), the Catholic religious radio station Radio Immaculée Conception (13%), and the evangelical radio station Radio Maranatha (11.4%).
In terms of cumulative audience, the generalist station Radio TOPKA (55.1%) ranks third behind Radio Maranatha (55.2%) and CAPP FM (82.5%).
Among executives and managers, RFI ranks first in all awareness and audience indicators, with 88% listening to it every week.
