Heroines: Dakar welcomes the new generation of women leaders

Women occupy a prominent place on the African continent. Through their roles and actions, they are called upon to play an important part in the development of their countries.

Although still largely underrepresented in the workforce, many African women are making their mark on a daily basis. With 24% of women on the continent running their own businesses (WIA Philanthropy study)

, female leadership is on the rise and initiatives are multiplying to support their dynamism.

In Senegal, events promoting women's leadership in business are multiplying, such as the Women's Investment Club and Digital Women's Day.

Dakar, the capital of Senegal, will soon host a new event: the Les Héroïnes forum. Focusing on women, this event will welcome the new generation of women leaders on November 16. Launched in 2017 by Jeune Afrique Media Group, the Les Héroïnes forum aims to bring together and train the new generation of women leaders. This new edition will also stop in Abidjan on September 24 to bring together Ivorian women leaders from promising sectors.
