French-speaking mobile video meetings

From Instagram stories to feature films and Facebook Live, mobile video has won over audiences and established itself in both private and professional spheres. The use of smartphones in video content production is becoming widespread and is gradually transforming the media landscape, with the emergence of new practices such as MoJo (mobile journalism) gaining ground in the newsrooms of major media outlets.

To reflect this trend, the training organization Samsa is organizing the Rencontres francophones de la vidéo mobile (Francophone Mobile Video Conference) on February 7. The event will bring together professionals from the media, communications, film, and training sectors to take stock of the uses of mobile video.

The program includes conferences, masterclasses, and practical workshops featuring presentations by comedian and documentary filmmaker Shirley Souagnon, Sandy Alibo from Konbini Africa, and Claire Leprouse, producer of Les Haut-Parleurs (FabLabChannel).

In this context, mobile video is also changing the game in Africa, where there is a need for local content that is adapted to the realities on the ground. The possibilities offered by smartphones as video production tools therefore appear to be an opportunity. As such, training dedicated to French-speaking Africa, the technological context of different countries, and different uses will be provided during these meetings.
