Facebook creates its own news feed, "Facebook News"

Facebook is strengthening its presence in the field of news by launching "Facebook News," a news feed promoting "quality" journalism.

Facebook has been fighting for some time to curb the phenomenon of fake news, which plagues social networks around the world. In addition to awareness campaigns, training for journalists, and the future creation of a content oversight board, Facebook launched Facebook News a few days ago.

Currently in the testing phase in the United States, this new space dedicated to news will be fed by a selection of independent journalists and partner media outlets. They will be responsible for "sorting" the information, which is usually subject to algorithms, but will not produce or edit any content.

In an interview with Adweknow, Aïda Ndiaye, Public Policy Manager at Facebook, said: "Fake news has no place on Facebook. We are a platform for communication and interaction. It is a great responsibility for us to ensure the integrity of the information circulating on our platform. Fake news is a complex problem that requires a multi-stakeholder approach. "

This new initiative is a response to the many criticisms levelled at the web giant, which has been accused by traditional media outlets of being a vehicle for misinformation.
