AfricInvest supports the development of startup Heetch

The development of digital technology in Africa is accompanied by the arrival of international startups seeking new opportunities on the continent.

Recently, the startup Heetch chose French-speaking Africa to accelerate its development, thanks in particular to €34 million in fundraising. Already present in Morocco since 2017, as well as in Algeria and Cameroon, where it recently launched its motorcycle taxi service, the startup aims to expand its activities to Tunisia and Senegal.

To support these developments, the Tunisian private equity firm AfricInvest has chosen to invest $4 million in the ride-hailing startup.

According to Teddy Pellerin, co-founder and CEO of Heetch: "The markets we are entering are markets where, compared to competitors such as Uber, we believe we have an advantage because they are French-speaking markets. In addition, the cities we are targeting are growing rapidly, with several million people, and there are no real digital solutions in terms of mobility yet. We therefore believe that we can create value in these growing markets, with cities that will increasingly need to absorb mobility flows."
