Present in Africa for many years, the Orange Group has chosen to highlight young talent in African culture with Y'Africa, a TV magazine that will soon be broadcast in 17 African countries.
Y'Africa, a contraction of the expression "Africa Ya lelo" ("Africa today" in Lingala), is a series of 13 26-minute episodes illustrating the journeys of numerous artists from African culture. Directed by Dan Assayag and produced by Fame Productions, this new series will be broadcast in 17 African countries from February 6 to April 30, 2020, and outside Africa from summer 2020 on pan-African channels, cultural channels, documentary channels, discovery channels, and several VOD platforms.
Orange has been present in Africa for many years. Our strong presence in the region allows us to closely follow the current cultural scene and identify emerging talent. The Y'Africa project thus complements Orange's many initiatives to promote African culture, such as the Orange African Book Prize, which we launched last year to promote the continent's literary talent and support local African publishing,
" adds Alioune Ndiaye, CEO of Orange Africa and the Middle East.
