Vivendi Africa announces partnership with Kourtrajmé film school

Vivendi Africa has officially announced that it has entered into a partnership with the Kourtrajmé film school in Dakar, Senegal.

Launched in January 2022, this school project is spearheaded by the renowned director Ladj Ly. Well known for his latest film, Les Misérables, which won an award at the Cannes Film Festival, Ladj Ly chose the Senegalese capital as the location for his new film school. The ambition behind this project is to offer free training, with no diploma or age requirements, to the new generation of Senegalese filmmakers.

For the school's teachers and trainers, the main challenges to be addressed today in order to develop the sector remain screenwriting and project presentation, an essential step in attracting the attention of producers on the continent.

Thanks to this partnership with Vivendi Africa, Kourtrajmé Dakar has access to the CanalOlympia network's movie theater for screenings and masterclasses, although the collective of filmmakers has its sights set even further afield with plans to open schools in Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, and Burkina Faso.
