As announced by David Mignot, CEO of CANAL+AFRIQUE, in an interview he gave us in early January, logical numbering is beginning to be implemented in all countries covered by CANAL+.
The High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA), which regulates audiovisual communication in Côte d'Ivoire, initiated the move on January 31 by publishing a decision concerning the numbering of Ivorian national channels by television channel package distributors. Operators had until the end of 2023 to comply with this decision.
CANAL+ had therefore modified its service plan in November 2023 in Ivory Coast to comply with the HACA's decision.
This is also the case in Mali, where since March 26, Malian channels ORTM1, ORTM2, Africable Television, TM1, Renouveau TV, Jolibanews TV, and CheriflaTV have been placed at the beginning of the so-called logical numbering system and occupy channels 1 to 7 on CANAL+ respectively.
According to a statement from Mali's High Authority for Communication, "the same measures are being implemented by other audiovisual program distribution companies to promote a favorably positioned national offering."
CANAL+, which has already developed the technical specifications enabling the order of channels to be modified according to the country covered by its satellite, has therefore been offering not only Malian channels but also Togolese and Beninese channels in the top slots of its channel numbering in their respective countries since March 26.
