(Press release)
CANAL+ and Netflix are strengthening their historic partnership, which began in 2019 for France and Poland, by extending their strategic distribution agreement to sub-Saharan Africa.
Thanks to this agreement, CANAL+ will become the first operator to distribute Netflix as part of its offerings in 24 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, marking a new milestone in access to premium content for African subscribers.
During July, CANAL+ subscribers in French-speaking Africa will be able to access Netflix content through their subscription, thereby benefiting from a simplified user experience.
With more than 400 live channels, including 28 produced specifically for the continent, and an enhanced experience via the CANAL+ app and connected decoder, CANAL+ already offers unrivaled content.
This partnership will enrich the offering with iconic Netflix series such as Stranger Things, Money Heist, Lupin, Emily in Paris, and Squid Game, alongside internationally successful African productions such as Blood & Water, Young Famous and African, Unseen, King of Boys, Anikulapo, Blood Sisters, and Kings of Joburg.
This partnership marks an important milestone for both groups.
This agreement, Netflix's first in the region, will give entertainment fans more choice in accessing their favorite Netflix series and movies. Netflix will leverage CANAL+'s strength and longstanding presence on the African continent to roll out its service.
For CANAL+, this partnership is an opportunity to strengthen its position as the world's leading content aggregator, allowing its subscribers in French-speaking Africa to enjoy content from the world's leading streaming service.
Pascale Chabert, Director of Content Acquisitions at CANAL+: "A few years after our distribution agreement in France and Poland, I am delighted to extend our long-standing partnership with Netflix to Africa. Our millions of African subscribers will now enjoy a unique offering, combining the best of CANAL+ and Netflix content in a single package. This new agreement demonstrates the CANAL+ group's ability to extend its unique super-aggregation model beyond the European continent."
Emma Lloyd, Vice President of Partnerships EMEA at Netflix: "We are delighted with this extension of our partnership with CANAL+, which will enable us to reach even more people in French-speaking African countries. This is great news for entertainment fans and is in line with our ongoing mission to improve the experience for our members."
