According to a recent report published by CashNetUSA, YouTube will account for 14.3 billion visits per month in 2022, making it the second most visited platform in the world after Google. In addition, YouTube accounts for 694,000 hours of video streamed every minute.
With regard to the African continent, the report highlights the following:
- Arabic-language channels from North Africa generate the most revenue on YouTube.
- YouTubers on the continent struggle to compete with content creators from other parts of the world in terms of revenue. The report points in particular to poor internet access in certain areas of the continent.
- There is strong demand for YouTube content among the continent's population.
- In French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa, the digital creators who have generated the most revenue are Prophète Joël Krasso in Côte d'Ivoire, Hussein & Zeinab in Senegal, and Manuel Serieales islas in Mali.
