RFI launches the 8th edition of the "RFI Talents du Rire" award. Initiated by comedian Mamane, a columnist* on the international radio station, in collaboration with Gondwana-City Productions, this award has been showcasing new French-speaking comedy talent in Africa, the Indian Ocean, and the Caribbean since 2015.
The winner, selected by a jury of professionals, will receive a prize of €4,000 to help develop their career. RFI will announce the winner's name on air in early December. The award will be presented during the "Abidjan Capitale du rire" festival, which will take place from February 10 to 12, 2023.
Previous winners of the "RFI Talents du rire" award: Manitou (Gabon, 2021), Les Nyota (DRC, 2020), Michaël Sengazi (Burundi-Rwanda, 2019), Les Zinzins de l'Art (Ivory Coast, 2018), Ronsia (DRC, 2017), Moussa Petit Sergent (Burkina Faso, 2016), and Basseek Fils Miséricorde (Cameroon, 2015).
Throughout the year, RFI organizes and supports events and competitions (RFI Discovery Prize, Theater Prize, Voice of Africa Prize, Charles Lescaut Grant, etc.) as part of its mission to support and discover new talent.
Artists have until November 5, 2022,
to submit their applications on the "Abidjan Capitale du rire" Festival
