Press release: Group Vivendi Africa rolls out Canalbox, the first FTTH ultra-high-speed internet network in Congo

Group Vivendi Africa (GVA), a telecom operator specializing in providing ultra-high-speed internet access in Africa, is today launching CANALBOX, its ultra-high-speed FTTH (fiber to the home) internet service, in Pointe-Noire (Republic of Congo). Following Gabon in October 2017 and Togo in March 2018, this is GVA's third commercial operation, further strengthening its network on the African continent.

CANALBOX offers, aimed at the general public, and CANALBOX PRO for businesses, are revolutionizing internet access and usage in Africa. The FTTH fiber optic network will continue to be developed in several other African cities in the near future.

GVA is investing in its own 100% fiber optic network and ensuring a very high level of service quality, from planning to construction and then during operation. For distribution, GVA is relying on the CANAL+ commercial network, thereby capitalizing on synergies within the Vivendi Group and reinforcing Vivendi's strong ambitions on the African continent.

Marco de Assis, CEO of GVA, said: "Our teams are building the best telecommunications network for the Congolese people because we believe that ultra-high-speed internet access should be available to everyone. Thanks to our presence, we will position ourselves both in the local telecommunications market and as a key player in supporting Congo's economic and social development. We are very proud to be the first to launch a true FTTH network in Congo, capable of providing high-quality services at truly affordable prices for the majority of the population and businesses."
