MTV SHUGA BABI: a second season in the works

Season 2 of MTV Shuga Babi is in the works! Despite the difficult circumstances caused by the health crisis, the filming schedule has been adhered to. With the support of Unitaid, the MTV Staying Alive Foundation (MTV SAF) has been able to continue filming safely (with temperature checks, protective measures, and regular PCR tests). MTV SAF and the production companies MPM and Formosa, which are responsible for producing Season 2, have been able to meet the various deadlines.

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the public casting did not take place face-to-face as it did last year, but largely online. It brought together 1,000 candidates, 30 of whom were selected for in-person casting. At the end of this program, three candidates were chosen.

  • Delvis Prestige KUE, 27, has a bachelor's degree in management control and is a singer, backing vocalist, and performer who has accompanied several artists. She participated in the online casting via the social network TikTok. MTV Shuga Babi is her first experience in a series.
  • Guillaume Caleb NASSA, 21, is a young business management student. He had not initially planned to participate in the casting. It was while helping a friend who wanted to become an actor in the series on the social network Instagram that he found himself selected. He is approaching this adventure with joy and determination.
  • Carole Olivia Salimata CISSE, 23, a law student, is already familiar with the small screen. She has appeared in productions such as "Allô tribunal" and commercials for major local and international advertisers.

In this second season, fundamental health and social issues will be addressed, such as HIV awareness, self-testing, contraception, first sexual intercourse, peer pressure, STIs, and gender-based violence.

Season 2 of the series will be available in early 2021.
