Les Trois Lascars surpasses 50,000 admissions

LES TROIS LASCARS, the latest comedy from Burkinabe director Boubakar DIALLO, co-produced by CANAL+ INTERNATIONAL, has been a huge hit with sub-Saharan African audiences since its theatrical release in early November 2021.

Distributed in 12 African countries, notably across the CANALOLYMPIA and MAJESTIC networks in Ivory Coast, the film has broken the record of 50,000 admissions in less than two months of release. It is also the most successful theatrical release for an African film in the CANALOLYMPIA and MAJESTIC networks, even outperforming American blockbusters.

Fabrice FAUX, Director of Channels and Content at CANAL+INTERNATIONAL, said: "We are very proud to have supported Boubakar DIALLO since the beginning of the TROIS LASCARS adventure. This exceptional success is a testament to the talent and hard work of the teams involved in the creation of this film, but also to the expertise of the CANAL+ distribution teams. It demonstrates, and this is crucial for the future, that 100% African creations have the potential to become the biggest hits on the continent. CANAL+ is fully committed to working alongside creators to accelerate and amplify this movement."

Axel GUYOT, the film's producer at Les films d'Avalon, said: " A big thank you to Boubakar DIALLO, the master of African comedy, Laurent SICOURI, and the Canal+ Group for their support and their magnificent work on the distribution of Les Trois Lascars. This success proves that it is possible to create local works that appeal to the general public and boost cinema attendance in West Africa!  Thanks also to TV5Monde and Fonsic Clap/ACP for their support."

Boubakar DIALLO, director of the film (Les films du Dromadaire), concludes: "The box office success of Les Trois Lascars is the result of the collaboration and complicity of a team that believes in the African continent. Our audience is more eager than ever for African images and emotions. We have seen proof of this. Les Films du Dromadaire is honored to have shared this exciting experience with Canal+, Les films d'Avalon, and Alma productions."
