Jumia launches Jumia Games in partnership with Mondia

In its quest to diversify its services, e-commerce player Jumia is now setting its sights on the video game market.

Thanks to a partnership with Mondia, a company specializing in the marketing and distribution of digital content, Jumia has announced the launch of Jumia Games, accessible via the Jumia Pay app on the African continent.

For now, the new service is available in Egypt, Nigeria, Morocco, Kenya, and Ghana, but is expected to expand to Ivory Coast and Tunisia in the near future.

The launch of Jumia Games marks a new stage in the diversification of Jumia's services. Diversification has been chosen as a strategy to enable the "African unicorn" to multiply its sources of revenue and cope with the economic difficulties that are undermining the e-commerce sector on the continent. It should be remembered that the successive closures of several big names in e-commerce in 2019 and 2020 have cast a chill over the entire market in the sub-region, prompting the remaining players to rethink their business model.
