Ivory Coast: new campaign launched to clean up the advertising industry

In recent years, the Ivorian government has been implementing measures to clean up the advertising sector. The focus is on outdoor advertising, particularly illegal advertising.

To this end, in 2021, the public authorities launched the digitization of the administrative process for managing urban space occupancy permits in order to limit the proliferation of advertising billboards.

Since then, the authorities have also begun dismantling unauthorized billboards in the Ivorian economic capital, Abidjan, and Grand-Bassam. According to a recent official statement, the Ivorian government has announced the implementation of a new campaign to dismantle illegally installed billboards, starting on April 2.

In addition, the digitization of the entire administrative process for managing urban space occupancy permits has made it possible to "simplify administrative procedures and reduce processing times for advertising messages with the acquisition of modern digital tools."
