Facebook and Reuters join forces to train journalists in French-speaking Africa.

Facebook is stepping up its initiatives on the continent and supporting its presence in the French-speaking region by contributing to the development of the digital ecosystem in a territory where social media has 155 million monthly active users.

Today, Facebook is partnering with the London-based news agency REUTERS to train French-speaking African journalists.

Through an e-learning project, Facebook wants to work with publishers around the world to support the development of quality journalism on the African continent. The goal is to create strong links between local journalists and online communities through programs, training, and partnerships.

For local journalists, this training is an opportunity to learn about international standards, methods of gathering information, verification, and digital processing. Participants will thus be able to acquire a solid foundation in reporting and digital publishing.

This program is part of a broader initiative by digital giants such as Facebook and major media outlets such as REUTERS to actively combat misinformation, a real scourge of the digital world, both on the continent and around the world, where more and more people are connecting every day to access information.

The training is aimed at both professional journalists and newcomers to the sector.

Journalists can register for free via this link. Participants will receive a certificate at the end of their training.
