Disney announces a new African collaboration with Kugali, a pan-African entertainment and animation company.
This collaboration will focus on adapting the comic book "Iwájú" ("Future" in Yoruba) into an original series scheduled to air in 2022 on the Disney+ platform. Steeped in science fiction, the new series will be set in Nigeria, in the city of Lagos.
A major player in media and entertainment worldwide, Disney has been convinced for several years that the future of the planet will be played out in Africa. With 750 million French speakers on the continent by 2050, 50% of whom will be young people, the development of digital technology and television channels, and the growth of cinema, it seems essential for the group to lay the foundations for the development of its activities in the region.
