Digital African Tour: a traveling event to support the continent's digital transformation

As every year, the wheel of digital transformation in Africa is turning again.

Starting in February, the Digital African Tour will once again bring together key players in the continent's digitalization.

This year, Bamako will mark the first stop on this traveling event organized by CIO Mag. This first stop will take place on February 18 and 19, 2020, with the theme "Boosting productivity through digital technology."

From Bamako, the Digital African Tour will then move on to Cotonou, Benin, on March 31, 2020, for the sixth edition in the country. On this occasion, the continent's digital transformation players will set themselves the task of reflecting on the approach to smart governance. This will take place against the backdrop of the AI and big data revolution.

Lomé (Togo) will be the third stop on this year's journey. The chosen theme is: "What strategies to support the innovation ecosystem of startups and SMEs in Africa."

At the end of April, on the 30th, stakeholders will meet in Côte d'Ivoire to discuss issues of digital sovereignty, with a focus on digital identity on the continent. Then, on May 28, the tour will head to the Maghreb, where the players in the digital ecosystem will be celebrated in Algeria.

Africa's digital inclusion has generated a strong appetite for solving the challenges of economic and financial inclusion on the continent. This is the whole point of the Mpay Forum initiated in Casablanca (Morocco) by CIO Mag, organized on June 30. The focus of this edition is to highlight mobile payments and their impact on e-commerce.

Dakar will host the DAT on July 9, 2020. The theme chosen is "Smart Senegal: how to accelerate the pace of digitization and e-governance."

Cybersecurity and personal data protection will be the theme of the eighth stage, organized in Ouagadougou.

And as every year, this Digital African Tour will end in Paris, where the ninth edition of the ATDA (Assises de la transformation digitale en Afrique) will be held on November 26 and 27, 2020.

"This year, we will be talking about digital infrastructure, innovation, and, above all, the focus on digital acculturation and its impact on culture. It will be an opportunity to discuss the promotion of digital content through the richness and diversity of African culture," explains Mohamadou DIALLO, CEO of CIO Mag.
