Côte Ouest Audiovisuel, a key player in the African audiovisual landscape, is currently preparing to launch its KIWI VOD service in Cameroon.
This launch has been made possible thanks to a partnership with the well-established telecommunications operator MTN. According to information revealed on social media, the KIWI SVOD platform currently has 75,000 active subscribers residing in Ivory Coast and nearly 3,000 hours of content, including films, series, and telenovelas.
Officially launched in November 2021, KIWI represents the final stage of a strategic move initiated five years ago by Côte Ouest Audiovisuel. Faced with the still embryonic advent of digital technology in French-speaking Africa, Bernard Azria, the iconic boss of Côte Ouest Audiovisuel, with his 18,500 hours of programs in French, English, Portuguese, and Arabic, grouped together within United Content of Africa, decided in 2017 to continue the development of his company by taking a position across the entire value chain: program distribution and production, channel publishing and creation, and finally broadcasting via the KIWI platform. This strategic launch marked a complete break with Côte Ouest Audiovisuel's historical positioning, which had been entirely focused on B2B.
It should be noted that Côte Ouest has a huge catalog. According to Bernard Azria, "Our mastery of content is such that this issue was not difficult to resolve. For more than a quarter of a century, we have represented and distributed programs from major US studios, the global giant of premium telenovelas (GLOBO), the best African content producers (MNET), etc.
After Côte d'Ivoire and Cameroon, two other launches are expected to be announced in the coming months. Stay tuned!
