Training remains a crucial issue for the development of audiovisual production in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa.
From January 14 to 25, Canal+ International and the production company Galaxie Africa initiated a training session for a dozen journalists from ORTM, Mali's national television station.
The training focused on the construction of reports and magazines, both in terms of journalistic writing and editing. The content was centered on the language specific to television reporting.
This initiative, funded by the Canal+ group, responds to the need for professionalization of the audiovisual sector in sub-Saharan Africa through training and skills transfer in order to support African talent and the sector in the audiovisual development of their continent.
For Agnès Ribouton, trainer for the audiovisual production company Galaxie Africa,
"The objectives of such training were to teach journalists how to construct a narrative from filmed elements, both in terms of commentary and imagery. We worked on a concrete example of a ten-minute report filmed for the program Réussite, an economic magazine co-produced by Galaxie Africa and broadcast on Canal+. "
Galaxie Africa will begin its third season of "Becoming a TV Pro" training in early May, this time in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. The training will be open to young students and professionals wishing to learn the basics of the JRI profession.
