To consolidate its presence in the African e-commerce market, the Afrimalin group is now embarking on a new phase of development.
A player in e-commerce in French-speaking Africa since 2016, Afrimalin has successfully bucked the digital boom in the region by creating a classified ads platform. Since then, the website has been connecting buyers and sellers in a dozen countries. In 2018, it merged with two companies specializing in classified ads, Kerawa and Portail.ci, to strengthen its presence in the Ivorian and Cameroonian markets.
Today, Afrimalin is thinking bigger and embarking on the second phase of its development with new services.
Even though the e-commerce market in French-speaking Africa has faced many challenges in recent years, Afrimalin is thinking bigger and embarking on the second phase of its development with new services. The two founders, Thibault Launay and Romain Gribal, want to launch their marketplace by 2021, combined with many other services such as online payment and e-ticketing.
In an interview with Adweknow, Dossah Espoir, Africa Director at Afrimalin, said: "Afrimalin's strength today, in terms of competition, is that it has a team of African and French executives and managers who are aware of the realities on the ground. We adapt the model we use to the specific characteristics of each country, and we adapt to local customs and needs. Our competitive advantage really lies in our ability to draw on African interculturalism in each country and respond to the needs of the population."
