4th edition of the Francophone Media Innovation Award

RFI, the International Organization of La Francophonie, and Reporters Without Borders are officially launching the fourth edition of the Francophone Media Innovation Award.

Initiated by the three partners, this competition rewards innovations in content, usage, and economic and organizational models that contribute to strengthening press freedom and the right to information for all.

It is open to all media outlets (radio, television, print and digital media) in the 58 member states and governments of La Francophonie that have developed innovative offerings that take into account new modes of consumption and access to information.

The award will be presented on March 20, 2019, on International Francophonie Day, during a ceremony to be held at the headquarters of the International Organization of La Francophonie in Paris, chaired by the Secretary General of La Francophonie, Ms. Louise Mushikiwabo, and in the presence of the President and CEO of France Médias Monde, Ms. Marie-Christine Saragosse, and the Secretary General of Reporters Without Borders, Mr. Christophe Deloire.

In the 2018 edition, the website "Habari RDC" (Democratic Republic of Congo), the Malian web TV "Kunafoni" and the independent French media outlet "Nothing but the Wax" were awarded prizes.

Applications for the 2019 edition are open from February 6 to March 1, 2019, on the websites of the three partners. The winners will be selected by a jury composed of representatives from the OIF, RFI, and RSF, as well as other prominent figures from the French-speaking media world. They will receive a grant of €10,000 (1st prize), €6,500 (2nd prize) and €3,500 (3rd prize) to consolidate the development of their business.
