Women's Month is a time to promote change and give greater voice to women across the continent. To tell the story of Africa today is to tell the stories of its initiatives, projects, synergies, and dynamics… But it is also to tell the stories of women who inspire, undertake, orchestrate, and decide. Those who play a decisive role in the acceleration and transformation of the continent…
"Women of Africa in Action"
TV5Monde has chosen to highlight the role of women through a gallery of portraits of inspiring women who work every day to find innovative ways to advance gender equality on the continent, but who also participate in the development of African economies. Entitled "Women of Africa in Action," TV5Monde's new short program, co-produced by Onyx Consulting, is designed to support and promote the economic empowerment of African women. Through 31 four-minute portraits broadcast throughout March on TV5Monde, "Women of Africa in Action" highlights high-potential women, entrepreneurs, and influential women who stand out for their initiative.
At a press event organized on the eve of International Women's Day, TV5Monde and Onyx Consulting invited these 31 inspiring women to speak about their careers, their projects, and their ambitions for the Africa of tomorrow. They come from all corners of the continent and from very different professional sectors. These African women are also widely represented in the media, advertising, and digital sectors. Here are some of their profiles:
Among these 31 profiles are women working in the media and digital sectors
. To promote the growing number of women's initiatives on the continent, it is necessary to give them a voice but also visibility to report on their actions. To this end, the role of the media and broadcasters is crucial, not to mention socio-professional networks.
Aude de Thuin, founder of the Women In Africa network, is featured in the portrait gallery. An entrepreneur committed to recognizing the place of women in society, she seized this opportunity to talk about her commitment to women on the continent. Convinced that women will be catalysts for change on the continent, WIA Initiative aims to be the first digital network connecting women entrepreneurs across the continent to help them develop their businesses and inspire the women of tomorrow to ensure that gender has an impact on Africa's development. Through events and the creation of a network, Women In Africa aims to promote and support a new generation of women leaders in Africa and encourage the future generation to support economic growth.
We women in Africa are very present, we do a lot of things and we are creating our continent," said Hafsat Abiola, President of the Women In Africa Initiative.
The project is now led by Hafsat Abiola, a Nigerian human rights activist. During the event, she reiterated the importance of giving visibility to women entrepreneurs in Africa, particularly through programs such as "Women of Africa in Action," so that the initiatives of women leaders can encourage others on the continent without being forgotten. In line with this dynamic, the 3rd annual WIA Initiative Summit will take place in Marrakech on June 27 and 28.
