Eutelsat has selected two companies, General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies and Network Systems (HUGHES), to help it deploy the capabilities of its Konnect satellite, which is scheduled for launch in late 2019.
General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies will supply seven antennas to support traffic exchange between the satellite and its ground network system. Hughes, one of the world leaders in satellite broadband networks and services, will provide its Jupiter ground network system.
This new step enables Eutelsat to equip itself with ground infrastructure that will ensure better performance and speed in the deployment of its Konnect program.
With the capacity to serve the broadband Internet market across Western Europe and Africa on a large scale, Konnect supports the Eutelsat group's ambition to help bridge the digital divide and build a more inclusive digital society.
