On July 10 and 11, London hosted a global conference on media freedom focusing on the key theme of "Press freedom, development, and democracy in Africa."
Government officials, multilateral agencies, civil society organizations, academics, and media professionals gathered to exchange ideas and create synergies in support of freedom of expression, press freedom, access to information, and the safety of journalists. The goal was to establish international action to support free, independent, and pluralistic media on a continent undergoing rapid digital growth.
