Driven by the rise in digital consumption of TV and radio channels and programs on the continent, Molotov began its international expansion with Côte d'Ivoire in December 2020, followed by Senegal in January.
This international expansion was made possible thanks to agreements with local partners such as Digital Virgo, Orange, and MTN. As part of its launch in Senegal, Molotov also partnered with RTS to offer new content on its platform.
The platform brings together 26 television channels and content publishers for these two countries, including the Trace group, Africa News, Passions TV, Savannah TV, Nina Novelas, France 24, Euronews, the six SVoD WAX channels, the seven BOX channels, Gourmand TV and Top Santé TV, and Game Toon.
In terms of prospects, Molotov aims to continue its development in other African countries with the launch of the platform in Cameroon in March, and in Burkina Faso and Tunisia in April. Guinea and the Democratic Republic of Congo will follow, before a wider rollout across the rest of French-speaking Africa during the second half of the year, in partnership with Digital Virgo.
"For now, we are on the lookout for new opportunities… We are approaching the international market in two ways: by launching Molotov in a country and by forming technological partnerships. We are therefore listening to operators regarding the use of our technology for the development of their OTT offering." François Le Pichon – Director of International and B2B at Molotov Solutions
