A small event was held on May 22 in Nigeria during the awards ceremony for the Pitcher Festival of Creativity organized by CHINI Africa, as an independent Senegalese agency managed to beat out South African and Nigerian agencies that have been accustomed to dominating the awards for their advertising campaigns for years.
The ceremony, broadcast on the Pitcher Festival website and aired on Nigerian channels TVC Entertainment and TVC News, honored the Senegalese agency CARACTERE (Dakar), which won the Grand Prize for Advertising Film for its jigeenjangal campaign for Sonatel Orange.
The South African agency King James Group (Cape Town) and the Nigerian agency Noah's Ark Communications (Lagos) also won Grand Prizes.
In total, CARATERE won not one, but six awards: a Grand Prix, two Gold awards, and one Silver award for the jigeenjangal campaign for Sonatel-Orange, and two Gold awards (Branded Content and Design) for the "Human Nature" campaign, also created for the Sonatel-Orange Group.
With a total of six awards, Caractere was the second most awarded agency at this year's Pitcher Festival.
