Senegal: CFAO Retail opens its second Carrefour Market supermarket near Dakar

The city of Thiès, 70 km from Dakar, now has a CFAO Retail supermarket after six months of construction.

With a total surface area of 750 square meters, the new Carrefour Market offers more than 9,000 products, 70% of which come from Senegalese suppliers, while around 15% are Carrefour brand products.

Jean-Christophe Brindeau, CEO of CFAO Retail, explains: "Since the launch of CFAO Retail six years ago, with the aim of developing its supermarket network in Africa in partnership with Carrefour, our ambition has been to provide consumers with the best shopping experience, both in terms of customer service and product range. After Dakar, where we opened the first Carrefour Market supermarket at Point E three years ago, we are very pleased to bring a new offering to the people of Thiès, who can now do their shopping at Carrefour Market. While this Carrefour Market in Thiès is the second Carrefour Market supermarket we have opened in Senegal, it is the ninth in the CFAO Retail network, which has three in Côte d'Ivoire and four in Cameroon.

At the same time, the CFAO Retail group, a major player in African retail, has expanded its activities on the continent under the Supeco banner, with PlaYce shopping centers and Carrefour hypermarkets, in response to the new consumption patterns of emerging economies, driven by a growing middle class.
