The Auchan Group sets up operations in Ivory Coast

The Auchan group will open stores in Abidjan and other cities in the interior, announced Barthélemy Guislain, president of the Mulliez Family Association (AFM), owner of the AUCHAN group, on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, following a working meeting with Ivorian Prime Minister Patrick Achi.

President Barthélemy Guislain expressed his company's intention to invest in Côte d'Ivoire. "Our adventure will begin this month with the opening of the first Auchan store. Ten other stores will follow, and eventually 80 stores will open throughout the country," he added.

Prime Minister Patrick Achi welcomed the initiative, which will contribute to the dynamism of trade and distribution, as well as job creation for young people.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding between the group, through BpiFrance, and the State of Côte d'Ivoire will provide the necessary assistance and advice to improve the support system for very small and medium-sized enterprises and optimize their results, Mr. Achi said.

Auchan is a major retail chain in France. Its turnover in 2018 was approximately €50.3 billion.
