A few months ago, Yves Bigot gave us an interview,
which he concluded with these words
"What I can say is that, obviously, if I am offered the position (editor's note: CEO of TV5 Monde), I will gladly accept it because it is an exciting job and, obviously, after nine years in this position, I have a good grasp of the issues and the situation and, above all, I am aware of the very significant challenges that lie ahead."
That has now been done, with YVES BIGOT being reappointed as CEO of TV5 Monde for two years "on the recommendation of the chair of the board of directors, Delphine Ernotte, after in-depth consultation between the funding governments (France, Switzerland, Canada, Quebec, the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, and the Principality of Monaco) and in accordance with the intergovernmental charter governing the channel."
Yves Bigot's track record at the head of TV5 Monde speaks for itself: he has doubled the channel's global distribution (from 212 to 421 million households in 197 countries since 2013) and its audience (from 30 to 62 million weekly viewers in 24 countries). He has also created new channels, launched the free TV5 Monde platform in 2020, and secured the Principality of Monaco's membership in TV5 Monde.
His new mandate comes at a time of complex geopolitical circumstances, particularly in Africa, and he faces many challenges: digital development on the one hand, and sustainable development and the environment on the other. As a global channel, TV5 Monde also aims to be a channel for the planet.
