Who are the members of the jury for the upcoming FESPACO 2023?

The 28th edition of the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO) will be held from February 25, 2023, to March 4, 2023, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

Once again, the country of honest men will honor African cinema with the organization of FESPACO, well known for its supreme award, the Etalon d'Or. FESPACO designates the official prizes and special prizes as two categories of awards for films in competition. The official awards include the Etalon d'Or du Yennenga for feature films and documentaries and the Poulain d'Or du Yennenga for short films.

Behind these awards are not only the talented nominees, but also an exceptional jury composed of eight personalities who were recently announced:

Dora BOUCHOUCHA (Jury President): Feature film fiction

Pédro SOULE: Film school films

Steven MALKOVITCH: Feature film documentary

Françoise Elong GOMEZ: FESPACO Shorts

Gnama Baddy DEGGA: TV series/animation

Kunley AFOLOYAN: Perspectives

Tiny MUNGWE: Yennenga Post-production

Ardiouma SOMA: Burkina films

This year, FESPACO will be an opportunity to reflect on how cinema can contribute to a culture of peace among the peoples of the world, in a country largely affected by instability.

As we announced, a total of 1,142 films were submitted, including 84 from Burkina Faso. In the "Series" category, we find Alex Ogou's new project "Obatanga," an original CANAL+ production conceived as a crime series about high-level crime in the upper echelons of society in an imaginary country, as well as "Ici C Babi," produced by Instant2Vie Studio with the support of TV5MONDE, RTI, and TRACE CONTENT DISTRIBUTION.
