Médiamétrie has just published the results of the second half of 2022 for TV/radio/internet audience measurement, carried out with Omedia among 1,540 people aged 15 and over, living in the four municipalities that make up Greater Dakar, from October 16 to 31, 2022, from November 6 to 21, 2022, and from November 27 to December 12, 2022.
The results of this wave of research are reserved for media subscribers, agencies, and advertisers, but we were able to obtain information that provides a more accurate picture of what happened in Senegal during this period.
As has been the case for many years, TFM and Sen TV are leading the race. Be in sport, which broadcast all the 2022 World Cup matches on pay-per-view, came in third, followed by Sunu Yeuf and RTS1, which broadcast the 28 best World Cup matches free of charge.
The arrival of RTS1 in the TOP 5 is particularly significant as it did not feature in previous years.
In 2022, RTS1 ranks fifth in terms of audience share, returning to its 2018 level. Boosted by its broadcast of the World Cup, the channel increased its cumulative audience share by 63% across the entire population and by 84% among men.
These results are all the more spectacular given that only the period from November 27 to December 12 of the Mediamétrie study, conducted in three waves, covered the 2022 World Cup.
