Data Reportal.com, which provides essential data on digital behavior every year, has just published its annual report on Côte d'Ivoire. This report covers the main indicators concerning the Ivorian population and its use of social media.
In January 2022, Côte d'Ivoire had a population of 27.4 million, with the majority (52.7%) living in urban areas. 47.8% of the population is under the age of 18 and 38.8% is between the ages of 18 and 44. The median age is 19.1.
According to this report, there were 9.94 million internet users in Côte d'Ivoire in January 2022. This represents a penetration rate of 36.3%. Year-on-year growth is 2.6%.
Social networks are used by 6.4 million people, or 23.4% of the total population and 64% of internet users.
Furthermore, Meta, which publishes its own figures, indicates that Côte d'Ivoire had 5.65 million Facebook users at the beginning of 2022, representing 56.8% of the eligible population, with Facebook limiting the use of its platform to those over 13 years of age.
As for Instagram, Meta reports that the platform had 919,600 users at the beginning of 2022, representing 9.2% of the eligible population (aged 13 and over).
LinkedIn also provided some information about its audience, which stood at 950,000 registered members in early 2022. This does not mean that all of these members are active every month, but these figures are still remarkable for a professional social network.
Twitter announced that it has 181,200 members in Côte d'Ivoire, representing 1.8% of the eligible population.
