For several months now, the Ivorian government has been implementing measures to clean up the advertising sector. The focus is on outdoor advertising, particularly illegal advertising displays.
To this end, in 2021, the public authorities launched the digitization of the administrative process for managing urban space occupancy permits in order to limit the proliferation of advertising billboards.
Since January 16, the authorities have also begun dismantling unauthorized billboards in the Ivorian economic capital, Abidjan, and Grand-Bassam. This phase is expected to be completed in May.
According to an official government statement, the digitization of the entire administrative process for managing urban space occupancy permits has made it possible to "simplify administrative procedures and reduce processing times for advertising messages with the acquisition of modern digital tools."
