"One challenge, one flag, one star": 93% of Ivorians watched the CAN final

The Fieldpro institute measured the audience for the last Africa Cup of Nations matches through several surveys conducted the day after the matches, with samples of 1,500 people over the age of 18 living in Abidjan and the main cities of Côte d'Ivoire: Bouaké, San Pedro, Korhogo, Daloa, Yamoussoukro, and Abengourou.

Regarding the Ivory Coast vs. Nigeria final, 94% of people who watched the game said they saw it on television.

In Ivory Coast, the matches were broadcast simultaneously on four channels: RTI1, LA 3, NCI, and CANAL+CAN.

According to the Fieldpro study, NCI achieved the highest audience rating during the final, attracting nearly 48% of viewers. CANAL+ CAN attracted 29% of those surveyed, RTI1 11%, and La 3 9%.

For the semifinal match between Ivory Coast and DRC, the channel scores were slightly different, even though the channel hierarchy remained the same:

NCI: 41%

CANAL+CAN: 35%

RTI1: 12%

LA 3: 9%

3% of Ivorians listened to the final on the radio, on Radio Côte d'Ivoire (34%), Radio Nostalgie (32%), RFI (18%), and RADIO FREQUENCE 2 (10%).

This is the first time that a study has been conducted on the matches of the AFRICAN CUP OF NATIONS. Last December, Fieldpro also measured the audience for the SENEGAL-ENGLAND match, which was watched by 80.1% of Ivorians.

These results confirm that when the three ingredients—a flag (Ivory Coast), a challenge (the third star in sight), and stars (HALLER, Emerse FAE)—come together, as was the case during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, maximum television audiences are guaranteed.
