NEWWORLDTV (NWTV) – right of reply

Following an article published on January 17, 2024, on the Adweknow website entitled "Interview with David Mignot, Managing Director Africa of the Canal+ Group," NWTV wishes to make the following corrections:

In an interview with adweknow.com, David Mignot raises questions about NWTV's sources of funding and states, in general terms, that "the truth will come out, but to date, no one seems to know the exact shareholding structure, nor the banks or other investment funds that support them," while pointing out that "the investments involved in the current calls for tenders amount to hundreds of millions of euros."

Without wishing to attribute any hidden meaning to the author of these comments, New World Télévisions S.A. wishes to emphasize its transparency regarding the composition of its shareholding structure and its financial backers. As an example, it recalls its statement published in the online edition of Le Monde on July 18, 2022: "New World TV claims to have benefited from funds from Coris Bank, a pan-African bank based in Burkina Faso, which quickly understood the strategies and knows how to take risks."

Furthermore, NWTV has always disclosed official documents relating to its capital structure and financial statements to the relevant parties. During bidding processes, which require the submission of robust dossiers containing verifiable information on the shareholding structure of candidates and the financial institutions and investors supporting them, NWTV complies with this requirement. It is no exception to this rule.

Therefore, publicly stating, even in a doubtful tone, that no one knows NWTV's shareholding structure and sources of funding would be tantamount to suggesting that the owners of TV rights who have already awarded contracts, broadcasting rights, or agreements to NWTV at the expense of more established competitors did so recklessly.

It is clear that NWTV is currently able to attract significant investment for the acquisition of broadcasting rights for sporting events around the world. It is equally clear that NWTV must carve out a niche for itself in a highly competitive market.
