The Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs has produced a Guide to Audiovisual and Film Contracts, which was presented a few days ago at the CNC DEENTAL forum held in Abidjan from April 23 to 25, 2024. Translated into French and English, this bilingual guide is intended for all film and audiovisual professionals. This 134-page publication has two sections, one on authors' rights and the other on copyright, and details
- contracts in the rights chain (option contracts, writing contracts, copyright assignment contracts, etc.)
- commercial contracts (co-development agreements, co-production agreements, service agreements, distribution agreements, etc.)
- Film co-production agreements
- Copyright principles and transfer of rights…
As Samuel Sangwa, Regional Director for Africa at the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers, who presented the Guide, points out, "the legal advice provided in this Guide is intended to cover issues relevant to the entire African continent, with its diverse legal systems, whether Latin or Anglo-Saxon in inspiration, in a spirit of breaking down barriers and promoting cross-border cooperation and co-productions."
