The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations boosts TV advertising investment

In Côte d'Ivoire and Senegal, advertising investments measured by the Omedia institute rose sharply in the first quarter of 2024.

+83% in Ivory Coast: the host country and winner of the competition saw its advertising investments increase by +83% in the first quarter of 2024.

In January, IPTVs more than tripled compared to January 2023, which admittedly saw a sharp decline.

With nearly 2.4 billion CFA francs in January alone, this is a level never before reached in Côte d'Ivoire since Omedia began measuring gross advertising expenditure in the country.

Among the biggest advertisers in January were sponsors of the Africa Cup of Nations and traditional advertisers such as ORANGE, TOTALENERGIES, PORTEO GROUP, and SMART TECHNOLOGY, as well as institutions such as the COFFEE AND COCOA COUNCIL, THE PORT AUTONOME D'ABIDJAN, and the MSHP (Ministry of Health).

+78.4% in Senegal: The first quarter of 2024 was a record quarter in Senegal, with very strong growth in January and February linked to the 2023 African Cup of Nations, but especially in March, which broke all records with a total of 3,742,000,000 CFA francs in a single month due to the presidential election.
