Bringing together the 24 best European teams, who will play a total of 54 matches, Euro 2024 will take place from June 14 to July 14 in Germany.
On which television channels will this competition be broadcast in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa? ADWEKNOW takes stock.
In Pay-TV, NEWWORLD owns the rights and will therefore broadcast all matches in all French-speaking countries in sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean.
Please note that SUPERSPORT SOUTH AFRICA also owns the English language rights in these same territories.
Given the situation, this is an opportunity for NEWWORLD to expand its reach in countries where it has virtually no presence, as its channels will be the only way to watch the competition in its entirety.
Unlike the CAN, which was widely broadcast on free-to-air channels, to date only three free-to-air channels have announced that they have acquired broadcasting rights in their territory: RTI for Côte d'Ivoire, RTS for Senegal, and CANAL 2 International in Cameroon, which announced that it had acquired the rights to 12 matches, while RTI and RTS have not directly communicated the number of matches they will broadcast.
Will interest in the competition, which does not directly involve any African countries or players, be sufficient to enable New World to recoup its investment or at least gain a significant number of subscribers? The question remains open.
Territories over which Newworld holds rights:
Benin; Burkina Faso; Burundi; Cameroon; Central African Republic; Comoros
Congo; Democratic Republic of Congo; Gabon; Guinea; Ivory Coast; Madagascar; Mali; Mauritius; Mauritania; Niger; Rwanda; Senegal; Seychelles; Chad; Togo. SUPERSPORT SA also holds English language rights in all of these countries.
