Who are the finalists for the 2022 RFI Discovery Prize?

Afro-pop diva Yemi Alade will chair the jury for this year's RFI Discovery Prize. The music of Nigerian singer Yemi Alade, an Afro-pop artist who blends R&B, electronic music, ragga, reggae, and traditional sounds, is taking the internet by storm. A leading figure in Afrobeats, Yemi Alade has racked up nominations and awards, including two consecutive wins for Best Female Artist at the MTV Africa Music Awards.

The 10 finalists chosen by a selection committee will be voted on by a jury chaired by Yemi Alade Kanza, as well as by the public, who can vote now until November 16 on Prixdecouvertes.com. The name of the winner will be announced on Friday, December 17, during a program presented by Juliette Fiévet and Claudy Siar, broadcast on Facebook Live on the RFI and Prix Découvertes RFI pages.
Since 1981, the Prix Découvertes RFI has been promoting and supporting new musical talent from the African continent. It is organized in partnership with the Institut français, the International Organization of La Francophonie, the Orange Foundation, and Ubiznews. The winner will receive a prize of €10,000, a tour of Africa, and a concert in Paris.
