Guinea's High Authority for Communication (HAC) has ordered the immediate withdrawal of West Africa TV from all broadcasting packages, including those of Canal+ Guinea and Startimes Guinea. This decision follows the broadcast of the program Star en ligne on May 30, 2025, during which comments deemed "offensive to public decency and the privacy of third parties" were made.
The HAC, chaired by Boubacar Yacine Diallo, justified its decision on the grounds of "indecency" and "professional shortcomings" observed in the content broadcast by the channel.
The HAC informed distributors Canal+ Guinea and Startimes Guinea to implement the suspension of West Africa TV's broadcast without delay, insisting on the immediate effect of the measure.
This is not the first time that the channel or its presenters have been sanctioned. The HAC statement recalls that in March 2025, presenter Williams Campbell (Mamadou Taslima Diallo) had already been suspended for three months following a previous similar case. The HAC considers that the channel has reoffended, thus justifying a more radical measure.
This decision is in line with the HAC's desire to ensure ethical treatment of information and preserve moral order in the Guinean media landscape. It reignites the debate on press freedom, media responsibility, and the regulation of audiovisual content in the country. To date, West Africa TV has not issued any official response to this removal.
