On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, in the TV5MONDE news program "64', le Monde En français," two errors were made in a table presenting the current matches of the CAN, the 2023 African Cup of Nations. Two of the flags shown were not those of the countries concerned.
Aware of the seriousness of this error, TV5MONDE offered its sincere apologies in a statement dated January 24, 2024, broadcast on air and on its social media channels.
Yves Bigot, CEO of TV5MONDE, also explained himself and apologized in a letter to the various Cameroonian authorities.
Since Wednesday, January 24, Denise Epoté, Director of Distribution, Marketing, and Sales for TV5MONDE's eight channels, a long-standing figure at the company, Cameroonian, and French citizen, has been the target of a vicious smear campaign in the press and on social media.
TV5MONDE strongly condemns the accusations, insinuations, and insults made against it.
Denise Epoté has no responsibility within the Information Department, which has sole editorial authority over all of its newspapers. Denise Epoté's only exposure on TV5MONDE is her contribution as presenter of the magazine program "Et si, vous me disiez toute la vérité" (What if you told me the whole truth).
