TV5MONDE, the French-language channel, has been broadcasting a new comedy series exclusively online since May 13: "Un mot adopté" (An Adopted Word).
"Un mot adopté" is a short and punchy web series consisting of 16 three-minute episodes, designed and produced by Totem Expérience. It plays on the sometimes unusual use of certain words in the French language and brings together internet users from all over French-speaking Africa around common situations and expressions. "
The continent is full of words and expressions that find their way into everyday French. Blending reality, fiction, and a healthy dose of humor, "Un Mot adopté" looks back at the history and meaning of each of these "Africanisms."
