(press release)

The latest Africascope study confirms TV5MONDE's strong position in the African audiovisual landscape. The French-language channel stands out for its high profile and increasing viewing time, reflecting the growing engagement of its audience.

TV5MONDE continues to be an essential channel on the continent, with peaks of up to 98% awareness.

  • In the DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO, the world's largest French-speaking country, one in two people watch it (50.4% weekly cumulative audience).
  • TV5MONDE recorded its strongest audience growth in SENEGAL and CONGO. Respectively +4 points in SENEGAL with a 20.6% weekly cumulative audience share and +1.5 points in CONGO with a 5.5% audience share.

These positive figures demonstrate African viewers' loyalty to TV5MONDE.

This is the case among executives and managers, 62.7% of whom watch the channel every week.
This figure is on the rise, ranking TV5MONDE fourth among the most-watched international channels.

In an increasingly competitive environment, TV5MONDE remains a key player in the African audiovisual landscape. The channel continues to adapt to the expectations of African viewers by offering quality content across all program genres.

In Africa, TV5MONDE is available unencrypted on the SES5 satellite alongside TIVI5MONDE and TV5MONDE Style, the channel dedicated to lifestyle, as well as in satellite, digital terrestrial television, and cable packages from local operators. This is particularly the case with free public DTT offerings in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Benin, Senegal, Rwanda, the Seychelles, the Comoros, Cape Verde, Madagascar, and Mauritius.

These strong results for TV5MONDE in French-speaking Africa, complemented by those of RFI and France 24 on the same wave, once again demonstrate the appeal of the complementary range of French and French-language channels, which continue to attract large numbers of viewers and listeners in the region.
