TV5MONDE is launching the Ivorian series "ICI C' BABI" on June 7, exclusively on its French-language platform TV5MONDEplus. This original series (41 episodes x 13 minutes), directed by Boris Oué, co-written by author Armand Gauz based on an original idea by Charly Kodjo, will also be broadcast on all TV5MONDE channels in September.
"ICI C' BABI" takes viewers to the heart of Abidjan, the capital of Ivory Coast, nicknamed Babi. Through the bustling neighborhoods, colorful markets, and picturesque streets of the capital, the series explores the joys, challenges, and aspirations of five characters who meet in a whirlwind of laughter, love, and misunderstandings. A series that is as hilarious as it is moving.
The series, produced by Charly Kodjo (Instant2Vie Studio) in co-production with TV5MONDE, was awarded the Jury Prize in the Series category at the latest Fespaco 2023.
Synopsis
Coming from all social classes in the city, Agnès, Estelle, Kader, Fousseni, and Kévin reflect the complex image of Abidjan, known as "Babi" to those close to it. While each of them faces their own challenges, their paths are not so different. Agnès, a passionate politician with her sights set on the presidency, is determined to eradicate the socio-economic problems that Kader and Fousseni, two brothers from the poorest neighborhoods, are suffering from. The passion that blogger Estelle puts into promoting black identity through fashion is not so different from Kader's determination to create a soap to solve the problem of depigmentation in Africa.

All these characters are interconnected by an invisible bond. In this vast network of intertwined destinies, Babi is responsible for setting events in motion that cause their stories to evolve.
