This summer, in 2025, the CANAL+ group made a major move by renewing its exclusive broadcasting rights for the English Premier League in 50 countries across Europe, Africa, and Asia for the 2025–2028 seasons. This agreement reinforces its status as the preferred broadcaster of major international sporting events in all countries where CANAL+ is present and, in particular, consolidates its position in Africa.
On the African continent, the contract covers the broadcast of 380 matches per season, live or recorded, in the local language. This exclusivity covers French-speaking territories, where the group already has a strong presence through its CANAL+ SPORT channels, satellite TV packages, and digital offerings, as well as all of sub-Saharan Africa, enabling broadcast on Multichoice channels once the acquisition is finalized.
Beyond broadcasting live matches, CANAL+ relies on an enriched editorial approach: multiplex broadcasting of four matches simultaneously on Saturdays, magazines, exclusive documentaries, behind-the-scenes access, interviews, pre-match and post-match analysis.
With a young population passionate about soccer, sub-Saharan Africa is a key territory for CANAL+. The Premier League enriches the already extensive portfolio of sporting events broadcast on CANAL+ SPORT channels.
CANAL+ is consolidating its strategy of aggregating premium content (Premier League, Netflix agreement) and strengthening its position in a highly competitive environment with streaming giants and regional players such as New World TV.
