The International Association of Sports Press in Africa announces its 2023 winners 

The International Sports Press Association in Africa (AIPS-Africa) crowned the winners for 2023 during a ceremony held at the Maison de la Presse in Abidjan.

Sixty-seven journalists representing 19 African countries competed in the categories of print media, web, television, and radio. The jury for the 2023 edition was chaired by Mamadou KOUME from Senegal.

Nigerian Abiodun ADEWALE won the print media award for his article "Olusosun: Against all odds, a Lagos slum sows dirt and produces the king of African soccer," published in Punch Newspapers.

Cameroonian Yanick Armel KENNE was recognized for his online work entitled "The precariousness of athletes: the other side of professional soccer in Cameroon," published on www.equaltimes.org.

Burkinabe Abdoul Rasmane KABORE wins the Television Award for his report "CIV-NGR: the Ivorian-Nigerian duo at the heart of the match," broadcast on Albayane television.


In radio, Senegalese journalist Saikou SEYDI was recognized for his report on recycling in Senegalese soccer, broadcast on IRADIO (EMEDIA group in Dakar).

The awards ceremony also provided an opportunity to honor several iconic figures in African sports for their contribution and commitment to sports journalism.
